Peter Devine

As a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Peter Devine was certain he would be working in the food industry. With the experience he gained working at some of Rhode Island’s best known restaurants — Hemmenways, The Capital Grille, and Capriccio’s — Peter’s culinary path led him to Plantation Catering of Newport where he worked as the executive chef for 6 years.

After working for several years for Plantation Catering, it was time for Peter to start his own company.

 

Janet Devine

Janet Devine graduated from Rhode Island College and then moved to New York City where she worked in the restaurant field. Upon returning to Rhode Island, she enrolled and attended the accredited culinary program at the Rhode Island School of Design. Janet’s passion for all things sweet led her into the baking profession.

Working ten years for an upscale, wholesale bakery that supplied fine desserts for many of Rhode Island and Boston’s premier restaurants and caterers was a marvelous learning experience, which she would use to partner with her husband, Peter, to start their company.

In 1998, Janet and Peter Devine started their catering business and, with their talented staff of chefs, event managers, and wait staff, they continue to make every event for their clients Simply Devine.
